SHARON McSWINEY

I have been a full time professional designer maker since graduating in 1990. I produce a varied body of work including silver jewellery, unique wall sculptures, framed metalwork pieces & more recently paintings. I am primarily inspired by the Cornish coast, collecting seaweed, shells, and bits of rusty metal plus texture and surface pattern are my passion. I combine copper & brass to create colour contrasts then utilise etching, embossing & hammering to create unique surfaces. Heat & fluxes are applied for further decorative effects.

I endeavour to do a daily sketch as I feel the need to create something every day. I regularly take part in month long projects such as mark making, pattern or colour prompts to develop new ideas. Some of these projects will evolve into metalwork or paintings.s taking many photographs of the sand, sea & rock formations.
